Tau Adaptor™ Principles

Most of the SmartOpsMgt software suite is based on Tau Adaptor principles and dynamic link libraries, which implement these principles.

The purpose of Tau Adaptor is to make it easier for business analysts, manufacturing engineers, and IT staff to customize and configure the SmartOpsMgt operations tracking and management software for specific applications, including implementing interfaces to a wide-range of external systems, without needing to be expert programmers or to have an in-depth understanding of the internal workings of the SmartOps24x7 software.

Some of the Tau Adaptor capabilities include:

Use of Rules, which can be modified by importing Excel spreadsheets, to control the capture of job and materials tracking data.
Description of the structure of database tables as well as web-services interfaces as High Level Data Objects (HLDOs), which can be readily translated to and from JSON strings. These are predefined for BellHawk as well as the DEX and Control databases and can be user defined for other systems.
Reduction of data exchange interfaces to databases and other systems to the use of six methods: Lookup, Fetch, GetNext, Store, Run, and Delete, which operate on HLDOs. This eliminates the need to write complex SQL Scripts to interact with databases and enable interfaces to be rapidly developed to a wide range of external systems.
Provision of libraries to convert JSON stings and Python DICTs, as well as .Net tables to and from HLDO instances, which can then be used by the above methods.
Ability to import and export HLDO definitions and instance data as Excel spreadsheets.
Ability to include User Defined Parameters in data imports and exports.
Ability to customize information exchange with other systems and with people using Python scripts

Tau is the 19th letter of the Greek Alphabet and has come to signify full-circle in science and engineering terms. It was chosen to signify that the Tau Adaptor would facilitate a full-circle of interfaces needed for real-time operations tracking and management.

The goal of the Tau Adaptor libraries is to make it easier for people who are not expert programmers to customize and configure their own operations tracking and process management systems.
